Jacksons Phoenix Match Report...

Jacksons Phoenix took to the field with enthusiasm in tonight's game against Tigers. Both sides struggling to fill their numbers, Phoenix worked hard to try and adjust to the change in fielding positions, with Flyers Michelle Thomson quickly settling in to the Phoenix line-up. The Jacksons side made a solid start, with the Phoenix gloves showing the improvement of the 3 games the rookie team now have under their belt, and Phoenix prevented the Tigers from stretching a lead. At bat, the teams desire to win worked against them at first, with nervy Phoenix taking a couple of innings to hit their groove. Once they did however, the Phoenix team quickly reeled in the Tigers and the game began to look like it could go either way.

Stellar turns from the Phoenix men provided some memorable moments on the field, with each of Jason Boschat, Jake O'Toole, Mike Quinn and Cameron Ramsay stepping up their game, Boschat and Ramsay also taking a home run each, and Fionnuala Cope continuing her hot streak on the bat for the ladies. Man of the match goes to Alex Kilpatrick however, who was grease lightening for the full hour, taking a number of improbable catches off the bat, and scoring a home run on bases in one of his aggressive base runs. A shaky innings in the final throes saw Tigers seize control, and despite an excellent performance overall by Jacksons Phoenix, Tigers took the victory 70 - 44, though with their closest game to date the Phoenix side continue to edge closer to the first elusive win.

New Model Launches...

With the new Porsche showroom having opened last year, the eagerly anticipated arrival of the Porsche Macan is just one of a host of launches across the many brands represented by Jacksons.

‘It is an exciting year,’ said General Manager, Charles Tennant. ‘There is a huge amount of new product due in 2014 and looking at the calendar we have two or even three launches every month. In my 20 years within the industry, I don’t recall so many notable new models entering the market over such a short period.
‘There certainly will be every reason for our customers to visit the showrooms and take a test drive of the latest new models which will be available.’

New Business Managers...

Jacksons Jersey now have two Business Managers after the recruitment of Allison Johnson and promotion of Kelly Thackrey...

Allison previously worked at Jacksons selling BMW and Mini until 2001. She then moved into Jersey’s busy finance industry.
‘When the sales executives have assisted the customer in selecting and specifying their car, they hand them on to us and we can tailor the appropriate finance package from a range of options,’ Allison explained. ‘We also look after the warranty, paint protection scheme and other after sales packages that are available.’

Allison believes that having the background in car sales and recent experience of vehicle finance is a useful combination in her new role.
Kelly was working in administration before taking on the role of trainee business manager. She was appointed at the beginning of the year.

Jacksons CI general manager Charles Tennant said: ‘It is the first time we have had two fully operational and qualified business managers and reflects how important the provision of tailored funding options is to our customers.
‘We are delighted to welcome Allison to the team, and Kelly has worked hard and thoroughly deserved her promotion. Peter is also a welcome addition and we may be looking to strengthen the team still further.
‘The year has started promisingly and if it continues we will require additional sales executives and technicians as we move through the year. We are certainly planning for growth.’

New Appointment...

JACKSONS has appointed several new members of staff to strengthen the team as 2014 makes a brighter start than the previous year.

Peter Clifford has rejoined as a sales executive specialising in Mercedes. Peter worked for Jacksons in Poole, Dorset, selling Mercedes from 2003 to 2008 before moving to the Island to work at Motor Mall. ‘It is great to be back representing Mercedes,’ he said. ‘The range is strong and there are some exciting new products already in the showroom, with further launches during 2014.’ The new GLA compact SUV and A-Class are already available at St Peter, while the all new C-Class follows in June and there is also a new S-Class on the way. Smart also comes under the Mercedes banner and a new Four-Two is due in the autumn. ‘It is good to be selling new Mercedes cars again, but we also have a massive range of quality previously-owned vehicles starting from as little as £6,000,’ said Peter.

Your First Car promotion...

JACKSONS has launched a new promotion aimed at first-time car buyers.

Your First Car has been designed to offer advice to the purchaser to help make the right choice and includes additional features such as an hour’s instruction with a technician on basic vehicle maintenance and free cosmetic repair insurance for three years to deal with those small dents and scrapes that are likely after taking to the road alone for the first time.

Jacksons general manager Charles Tenant said: ‘Choosing and buying a first car can be a stressful time for both the new driver and their parents. We wanted to try to remove some of that stress by offering a comprehensive package that includes some of the additional products and services we offer to all our customers, but free of charge to Island new drivers and first-time car buyers under the Your First Car scheme.

‘Many people still seem to discount Jacksons, as they perceive we will not have a car to fit their budget. Actually, our portfolio is really very broad and we have cars priced from £5,000.
‘We have a used car stock of around 140 vehicles and over 500 in group stock, while the Volkswagen up! starts from just £8,150 and Smart cars from £7,600.

‘Customers also have the benefit of knowing that all our previously owned cars have undergone a thorough 110-Point Check before being put on the forecourt. They are also backed by a comprehensive warranty scheme offering cover for a minimum of 12 months with the option to extend the period.’

Included in the Your First Car scheme are: Cosmetic repair insurance to cover those almost inevitable little dents and scrapes for up to three years; a driver’s emergency kit and an hour’s vehicle maintenance course with one of Jackson’s senior technicians.

Jacksons Falcons do it again...

The Jacksons Falcons lined up against the improving Woodchucks for their third game of the Indoor season. Whilst not at their full strength, the Falcons were able to comfortably extend out a lead against their opposition, who continue to show increasing promise with each and every game.

The Woodchucks struck the first blow at bat with a pounding home run, but the Jacksons Falcons returned like for like with Ric Pedro hitting a home run shortly after. The Falcons were also in fine form on the field, with Sam Lempriere performing acrobatics to take the catch of the game.

With other noteworthy performances coming from Chaz Cunningham and Gary Coleman, the Falcons took the victory 107 - 40.
