BMW go electric with the new i3

JERSEY PREVIEW DAYS - 19-21 SEPTEMBER

The much anticipated BMW i3 represents an exciting and innovative proposition for the fleet marketplace. With fuel prices continuing to rise and tighter emission targets being set by the Government, running a fleet in today’s market is more challenging than ever.

The BMW i3 meets the requirement for an ultra-low emission vehicle to sit alongside traditional combustion engines on company car fleets. Not only will this have a positive impact on the environment, but it will also financially benefit both companies and company car drivers.

Engineered from the ground up, the new BMW i3 is built using LifeDrive, a vehicle architecture custom-built for electric cars. LifeDrive is created from two separate units; the Life module, which is the passenger cell made of carbon fibre; and the Drive module, comprising the suspension, drive components and high-voltage battery.

Jacksons Phoenix softball team win again...

Jacksons Phoenix lined up for the second of their inter-divisional matches against division 1 side Cubs.

Batting first, it seemed as though it would be another hard bout for Phoenix, as the first 2 outs came swiftly at the hands of the Cubs. Phoenix dug in, with some safe base hits and brought home 2 runs before the third out came to close their inning. Pegging the Cubs to the same score in the first inning, Phoenix began to hit their groove, keeping defensive play tight and swinging confidently as the pitches came in.

Cubs began to build a small lead from the second innings, but Phoenix were always tantalisingly close, finally pushing past the Cubs scoreline in the 5th, and capitalising by shutting the Cubs down without score in the bottom of the 5th. Going into the 7th, Jacksons Phoenix had a lead of 3 runs, and could smell victory, if only they could finish strongly. First batter up, and a strike out set the Phoenix nerves on edge. Second out followed, and no runners home. With bases loaded, the third out came as a crushing blow, and it was now down to the Phoenix ability to defend to secure the win.

Phoenix were frazzled but determined, and outs at 1 and then a play at second saw only one more out needed to clinch the win. But then disaster seemed to hit and a short stretch of bases awarded on balls saw one of the Cubs batters home and all bases loaded. One lapse of concentration and all could be lost. A pop up into the infield, and pitcher Cameron Ramsay took the catch that mattered. Ball game and the Jacksons Phoenix took the win.

Final score Jacksons Phoenix 13 to Corefcus Cubs 11.

Heritage Charity Motoring Festival 2013 UPDATE...

Jacksons Guernsey raised over £1000 last weekend, for the Lions Club charities, with staff taking part in the Heritage Charity Motoring Festival events and offering passenger rides in and Aston Martin.

Pride and Joy Classic Car Event

More than 70 very special cars were exhibited at the inaugural Jacksons Pride and Joy event held in the beautiful grounds of JCG and Victoria College last Sunday.

Jacksons are an official JCG Foundation corporate partner and the Pride and Joy event, a picnic at which car owners had the chance to show off their fine vehicles, took their funding for JCG initiatives supporting education in Jersey to over £6,000.

Leanda Jane Guy, JCG Foundation director said: ‘ A huge thank-you to our corporate partner, Jacksons, and everyone involved in making this such a fantastic event.  A special mention for Alun Watkins, headmaster of Victoria College, Sara Clews, development director, and the Victoria College team for co-hosting the event with us and allowing Pride and Joy to take place on College Field.
‘We look forward to building on its success and making Jacksons Pride and Joy an annual event in the Jersey calendar and continuing to work with Jacksons as part of our corporate partner scheme to support JCG and local students via the JCG Foundation.’

Leanda thanked Ivor Richards of the La Motte Street Youth Centre for providing live music all afternoon; the Jacksons coffee car and Stuart’s Ice-cream van, which kept everyone refreshed after their picnics; and  Mitch Couriard and the St Helier honorary police and the St John Ambulance.
‘We will be launching Jacksons Pride and Joy 2014 very soon and be calling for entries for next year before the end of 2013, so watch this space,’ she added.
